Bonsoy Website
This was my favourite job last year – a quirky little website for a quirky consumer product with a fiercely loyal following. Bonsoy is a singular product – a top-quality premium and top-priced soy milk made in Japan and distributed in Australia by Spiral Foods. Its premium quality means it’s preferred by baristas for its ability to be 'pulled' like regular milk to get that same smooth crema in a soy latte. There was no website at all and one of our div heads who is partial to a soy latte just emailed them as said it would be good if you had a map of where I can find cafes that serve Bonsoy... and this project was born.
The brand had to be presented as premium and yet styled to suit a quirky, inner-city, healthy hipster. It had to justify the price by explaining the benefits, but not in the typical soy milk "It's good for you" way. I featured the product on the home with quite subtle content features - letting the product stand strongly on its own. The colours and graphics reflect the distinctive packaging. Yes, it’s made in Japan, but a traditional Japanese angle didn't suit it. But I pulled out the kawaii soybean illustration and extended that to include more illustrations in the same style in a visual benefits list for "Make it Bonsoy". Some bespoke typography, quirky humour, textural elements and hipster cafe imagery place this product firmly in East End with lots of v-necks, beards and $6 lattes.
